World generation

Dear sir/mdm,
I recently updated Minecraft after about 2 months since the time i last played... but my world generationdoes not go to y= -64 as i was mining... may i know why is that so? Kindly drop me an email to let me know if the problem can be fixed (if there is any) Thank you
