Freeze/crash when changing network

Due to internet restrictions in my country, I need to use a VPN to connect to the Microsoft Authenticator Services.

When I change servers / connect to a new VPN server, the game will freeze and crash.  Usually I will have to close and restart.  If I wait long enough, it will close on its own.

Haven't received any error code or message, but if there's a way I can pull some debug data, I would gladly provide it.

Reproduction steps:

1. Open Minecraft v1.18.12
2. Disconnect / reconnect to a new server via VPN
