Destroyed painting's item drops far away

Paintings will drop the item far away on the weirdest spots. There are times when you will never find where it glitched away. I tested it in creative it's really frustrating. If there is a block above the painting and you destroy it it will go up or behind the wall but I saw it landing 4 blocks away without any blocks between.
