Slabs cannot be continuously placed

Since updating to 1.18.10 I can no longer continuously place slabs by holding down the 'place block' button whilst moving.

I have tested with various other blocks (full blocks, stairs, fences etc) and they all place normally, meaning I can place a line of the selected block by holding down the 'place block' button whilst walking.

I have also tried various types of slabs (blackstone, prismarine, quartz etc) and they all suffer the same problem. The problem is apparent regardless of whether I am trying to place top or bottom slabs.

Edit: I’ve also tried deleting and re-installing Minecraft, creating a new survival world and creating a new creative world, the problem persists in all cases.
