Riding a minecart adjacent to lava burns players when rounding corners

Players burn when rounding corners while in a minecart traversing block-supported tracks adjacent to lava.  It doesn't matter what block the rail is built on, players still burn, but only when making turns.  See IMAGE for example of this bug, hopefully it will be clear.
