boat is gone when i hop off

How come on bedrock edition on my laptop and ps4 every time I hop out of my boat it disappears and have to travel a little ways from it for to reappear or log out of my server and then come back is that a bug or glitch? Also this was before the new update into 1.18 it been going on since 1.17
