The bartering farm is not working

I tried dispensers with gold and the gold falls in the hopper instead of it doing the barter with piglins and when I used droppers with gold with trapdoors keeping the gold from falling into hoppers the Piglins do not pick them up so therefore the Piglin bartering farm is not working.
