When Minecraft loads up, skins won't load (failed to load character message)

When I load up minecraft on my kindle fire (which is classed as a android device), none of my skins load and I am stuck with the regular steve and alex skins. Also, when I reload the skins or the game itself, it displays the same message of "failed to load character.....".
