World update to 1.18 fails on PS5

I have tried to update my PS5 single player world to 1.18, but each time I try it tells me it ran out of space, the world was corrupted, or can‘t be loaded due to error etc. 

i even had the game crash completely while trying. 

I am on PlayStation 5 and have plenty of space left, even deleted some older world copies etc. so the bar below the worlds showing space is only around 25% filled when I try it, I have more than enough free hard drive space as well, so the error is totally unexplainable to me. 

as i spend a lot of time with the world it is quite large (953mb) , but it should still work, as now I can’t play at all anymore and lost hundreds of hours of mining and crafting.
