Chests and inventory not opening

Found a minecart with a chest but can't open it. The prompt appears but no matter what I do it doesn't open. I then moved 3 blocks away and attempted to go into my inventory but the menu won't open until I exit to surface, around 65. The inventory menu refuses to open until I clear the mine/large hole area
