Lag and crosshair flickering in split screen

Ever since updating to 1.17.41 while playing split screen if player 1 or 2 interacts with anything (chest, crafting table, villagers, etc) the crosshairs of the other player flickers and the game gets real laggy (broken blocks/crops reappear, game freezing and slowing, etc). Same thing also happens when a new area is loading (one player going to the nether or a new area). To duplicate this just play split screen and try to do the things mentioned. Makes playing split screen tough.
