GUI size too small

A while back, I used to have three options for my GUI scale slider (-1, 0, 1) and GUI scale 1 is the perfect option for me. However, after not playing for a few weeks (did not uninstall; did not update; did not change device), I noticed that the buttons were too small and true enough when I checked my GUI Scale Modifier settings, it has been set to 0. Now I only have -1 and 0 as an option and GUI scale 1 completely vanished. I have also tried editing options.txt, but nothing happened. I play on Samsung Galaxy A22.

Update: I tried restarting my phone and when it booted up, I ran Minecraft immdiately. The GUI scale I wanted was applied. However, when I close Minecraft and reopen it, the scale was back to small. Note: This only works on a freshly restarted device.
