The llamas from the wandering trader kept an invisible lead

In the water source of my village a wandering merchant drowns, the llamas were free but I could not interact with them, only feed them but they did not reproduce either, I killed one and it drop a lead, they kept an invisible lead when the merchant died from drowning.
