Nether Lag

Every time I enter the nether, around every 5 seconds without lag, the game lags for 10 seconds, not allowing me to do anything without the threat of death, as it deletes placed blocks and replaces mined blocks. It has something to do with entities, because it vastly improves whenever /kill @e is used.
