horse in boat dissapears when i get off

So when me and my buddies go exploring we bring a boat with a donkey/horse. When we get off we can't see our boat or the horse that is in it. But we can see eachothers and that is how we usually fix it. But if I am in single player i have to save and quit and join again to see the horse and the boat.
