Thorns plus harming arrow based duplication

Shooting oneself with a harming arrow while wearing thorns armor can cause the player to instantly die even if the shot would not have done much damage, while duplicating said thorns armor several times. It does not happen every time, probably has to do with thorns activating. When it does occur, the chat is also instantly filled with "[player] died" several times (it appears to be once per duplication), followed by a final "[player] was shot by [player]". Additionally, the duplicated armor will have varying amounts of durability, even if the original armor had no damage.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Wear armor with thorns. Having multiple armor with thorns seems to increase the chances of it working.
2. Obtain arrows of harming (any level) and a bow (no enchantments necessary).
3. Tap shot up to hit yourself with the arrow. It does not need to go very high at all, and you can be at any amount of health.
4. Sometimes nothing will happen, but other times you instantly die and all of your thorns armor (nothing else though) will be duplicated several times.

Expected result:
You do not die instantly, and armor is not duplicated.
