Buttons and redstone problems

When you are standing in front of a stone button (also might be w/ wooden) your perspective will be like your inside a stone block
And one more, do blocks where the redstone torch was placed don't give the block a signal?
Also I tried to make a 2x1 flush piston door but the lower pistons doesn't update because it is not detecting a signal.
