Won't connect to Microsoft store, so character creation choices not loading

Since yesterday, my game which is connected to my Microsoft account,, has been having major issues connecting to the Microsoft store.

 

because of this, the character  creation has not been working.  I checked to see if I could find similar issues on here but didn't. Or they were counted as resolved. 

So my character was turned into Steve. When I go to fix it, or create a new character, none of the options load other than like the first two. The rest look like empty squares.

My internet connection is just fine, I have tried using both wired and wireless. My roommate has no issues with his using the same internet.
