I can't smelt Blocks of Gold, Iron

I've read this report from others but they all say they're resolved. I've tried all different types of fuel but nothing works. I can smelt other things using coal and wood planks but when a block is in the top space nothing happens.

I don't know which version it is so I put 1.17.34. because I had to choose one.

It's the Xbox 360 Edition
