Boat teleportation glitch

Sometimes, when I am flying a large distance over water in creative mode, I randomly teleport into a boat sitting in the water all of a sudden. I didn't make the boat, but it just spawned there. I don't know how to reproduce this bug, but it's very weird and annoying.
