External Keyboard not working for movement for character and mouse pointer does not lock.

I just got a USB adapter for my iphone, and i'm going to use it for playing Minecraft on my phone. I loaded it up, but when I went into a world, the keyboard wasn't working for movement, and I had to hold downright click on the mouse to look around. I think the game thought I was using a controller, because it was giving me controller hints, but it just wouldn't work if I tried to move around with the keyboard. Could you please make Minecraft Pocket Edition more keyboard-and-mouse friendly? Thanks!
