Furnaces and blast furnaces will not work even when coal is placed in it

I got a small update on Minecraft on my Xbox 1 and now the furnace and blast furnace will not work. I have coal in all of them and tried to smelt multiple items but they will not smelt. The smokers are working but not the other two and I have no idea why.
