Portal glitch

I beat the Ender Dragon with my friend and decided to go look for the elytra. My friend went in first and I followed. He landed in the middle of the end forests and I was expecting the same. Instead I spawned over the void too far away from any islands to tp with an ender pearl and lost all my enchanted Netherite things. Will you please fix this bug? I also cannot feed animals or ride my horse in the overworld. Why is Minecraft so buggy right now?
