NO more blocks of iron / gold / coal. everything! i cannot make any block of ores with ingots

When using iron or any ores, after smelting, it becomes ingots. when placing ingots in the usual 9x9 box, i can no longer get blocks. lets say, block of iron, block of gold, block of coal. 

neither can the blocks be made back into ingots
