Copper block beacon power issue

Technically, I don't know if its a bug,

but Copper Blocks doesn't power beacons.
Even though its make of ore items like emeralds and diamonds etc, they all power the beacon. But copper blocks doesn't. 

 

Is this a bug or not going to be a feature?
(after reading, this feels like a question)
