MCPE blocked chat

The same time the spacebar stopped working, another (not quite the same) issue occurred. Whenever I use the chat section, a black screen appears so that I cannot see what I am currently typing, or what other messages had been previously written (including death messages). Yet again, this affects 0.13x, and possibly before.
