Slimes do not turn into magma cubes when exposed to fire

When I tried the slime trick, I realized that the slime didn't turn into a magma cube like I thought it would do. I expected the slime to turn into a magma cube like I thought it would. Just try to turn a slime into a magma cube with any source of fire or lava.
