The turtles

The turtles are busted and when they are transported from the site where they were found, some of them stop interacting and remain removed or can no longer be fed, so they do not mate and lay eggs.

So maybe by enclosing them in a not so big place they stop interacting and the place where they are has water and part of the beach.
