Multiplayer won’t work either will be extremely laggy or will just kick me off the game

Whenever I try to get on multiplayer with my friend I will either get kicked off the game completely or when I do happen to get on it is so laggy that nothing moves none of the chat box works and I cannot see other players and I can’t pick up box and I cannot break them.
