Can't pick up arrows after shooting mobs

Have been playing aworld created a few months ago and have always been able to pick up arrows after shooting mobs. I recently realized my arrows have Been getting depleted easily. I look at my arrow count after killing a mob and it didn't go back to it's previous arrow amount. Just vanishes after killing a mob. Idk if this is apart of an update but it makes playing a lot less fun and is really inconvenient.
