Friends list bug

When i try to join my friend to play minecraft bedrock it doesn't show his name and when i thought i had to friend him again so i put it in and nothing came up. also my friend couldn't play because of the ps plus so when he bought it NOTHING HAPPENED i feel like i got scammed
