Creeper blast radius with entities

A creeper blew up outside my house and was around 10 blocks away from my paintings and armor stands that are inside, both of them got destroyed. My house walls are 2 blocks thick in that specific area and it just confused me on how a creeper explosion could destroy them through a wall.
