"Slain by husk" when returning through nether portal

When I travel back from the Nether I get the minecraft dirt screen where it says "building terrain". Then I hear myself being hurt, losing hearts. After 15-20 seconds I spawn back into the overworld but dead on the respawn screen. If I go into the chat log it says "myusername was slain by a Husk"

 

I lost so much stuff... twice. Ouch. 

I do have Caves and Cliffs experimental turned on.
