Weather (rain, snow, etc) either disappears or seems to exist when it doesn't

I was playing with LAN and saw that in my friend's device it was raining, in mine not. We were on the exact same block and biome. Also, on singleplayer, it was raining for 30 minutes straight while I was sleeping on EVERY night. Shouldn't that reset the weather cycle? I think this is only a visual bug as from my multiplayer experience.
