Villagers keep disappearing

I had a villager who had a job AND I traded with them then the next time I log in it disappears. This happened with another villager I had too but I just ignored it because I could just bring it back easily but this is the second time. Maybe I did something wrong but please check because it took me a long time to get the villager. Thanks!
