tamed cats cannot/will not exit a minecart

In creative mode, when a tamed cat is following me (the player) and i start doing something near a mine cart, the cat gets in the mine cart and it goes endlessly. when i walk far away the cat wont teleport and ill come back to find it still stuck in the cart, and cant get out unless i destroy the cart. The cat's tail and foot also oscillate really fast and stick out of the cart, which makes me think its more of a bug than a personality glitch.
