Opening Chest after Using Minecart

I was flying. Then i rode a minecart in creative with a minecart item in my inventory. Next I opened a chest while still in the minecart and put the minecart item in. Then I flew over to another chest, never once stopping flight. When i tried to open the chest, the screen pulsed green for a moment and the chest did not open. Only after i stopped flying was i able to open the chest.
The Screenshot was not able to be taken because the flash was too fast.
