Since 0.14 this happens:
A player is in a world, open in lan
He opens his inventory
nothing in there.
he closes.
DropItemPacket is sendt 4 times (in lan, the item will not be dropped. On any multiplayer software it will (PocketMine, Minet, Nukkit etc. They recieve the packet))
I am sure the number of the packet hasn't changed either.
because normal dropping still works

Figured out its 4 times in wireshark.
Only Windows 10 version
