End glitch

My friend and I were just trying to leave the end after successfully looting an end ship. After we had exited the end we died. It said we fell from a high place, but after we clicked respawn the screen was still red and we didn't respawn. After a bit of confusion we both restarted our minecraft and when we got back in the world all of our stuff- diamons, dragon head, elytra and all was gone. Please look into this issue. Thank you.
