Steve character glitch

So lately I have been experiencing a bug with the Minecraft character creator with both Steve and Alex models where our custom skins we make or use from a file on windows will randomly change to a Steve & later on the Steve will become legless & armless & certain items like tridents, swords, crossbows & more will glitch through the character. It has been doing this for a while & it is very frustrating since we aren't able to see our custom skins in game. I have provided a file of evidence of what this looks like. It happened to my friend as shown in the photo.
