Sign Font Colors Issue

When adding color to sign font using dye or the § key, the color is very dark and not the exact color that it is supposed to be. I am using a texture pack in the world that I normally play on but I have tested this on new Vanilla worlds and there is still the issue. not sure what causes this problem, I just hope this issue is resolved soon so I can use colored font again.
