Horses disappearing when crossing water

I had two horses disappear when I went to jump across a river and fell in the water. The first time I thought it was internet problems but the second time it happened for sure. There were bubbles where the horse was but then the bubbles would disappear and i would lose horse, horse armor, and saddle. It was weird.
