Cannot change Minecraft classic skin

When I try to change the Steve skin to any marketplace skin it just stays as Steve no matter what. Bug only started happening after I updated to 1.17.10 on my Nintendo Switch. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft and nothing changed.
