End Portal Bug Made my friend die and lose all his stuff and it said "Fell from a high place"

Me and my friend got done getting XP from the nether so we went to our nearby End Portal and we went in the Portal because we already defeated the ender dragon and our house was far, I went through the portal And I did not DIE but my friend went in the portal and he died it said his username and it also Said "Fell from a high place" please fix this
