My netherite tools and armor burned when I feel into the lava.

To see if the problem could be reproduced I built a bridge dropped a item on the bridge and grabbed a different netherite pickaxe that only had mending and unbreaking two and jumped into the lava with it I then died and respawned and went to see if the item I dropped was on the bridge it was which negates the possibility of the items despawning I used one of my fire resistance potions and jumped into the lava to see if my pickaxe was there it sadly was not.
