Existing well used Nether Portal spawns in totally new spot

I went through my Nether Portal that I have used hundreds of times before in the middle of a warped forest, but this time I spawned over a lava lake. I subsequently died and lost everything because I don't expect it. After I respawned I went back in and out of the portal and it took me to the usual exit in the warped forest. I have no idea how to emulate it. Now I have no way of recovering anything, because I don't know where this lava lake is. I'm actually pretty mad. It's like 30 hours down the drain to a glitch. I wish when you die it would give the co-ordinates of where you died in the death message. Anyway, I can't be the only one this has happened to in this update.
