Samsung tablet stuck in controller mode

Hello,

  My daughter was playing on her tablet and messed with some settings. No matter what I try to do, her Minecraft is stuck in controller mode and I cannot 'reset' the controls or change them back to touch. I can go to settings and select touch- but it still keeps the controller interface. So she has no way to play. I looked around and did not see a fix. Is there a way to reset the controls for Minecraft on Android without loosing all her worlds and doing a fresh install?
