Despawn Dolphin with Name Tag

can I please ask why is it that my Name tagged Dolphins keep despawning, I have them in a very large lake outside my house with lots of air and rather deep, with high fenced walls to stop them from escaping, I've now wasted 8 nametags on Dolphins.
