Multiple messages occur when trying to build into the void

When you build up to the build limit, and try to place another block, it will tell you "The height limit for building is 256 blocks". When you go to y=0, and place another block below, it will tell you "The minimum height for building is 0 blocks". This is as intended, however the minimum height message is given to you 7 times when you only click once.
