Axolotl Despawning

I picked up some axolotls and put them in an aquarium I made. I also put name tags on them and then left the realm. When I came back later on, all of them but one were gone. They shouldn't have despawned if they had a name tag on them. There also wasn't a way they could escape as it was blocked off.
